Chemical laboratory technician (m/f/d)
The Profession
As a chemical laboratory technician (m/f/d) at Glencore Nordenham, you will learn to work independently and precisely, as well as in a team-oriented and process-focused manner. Your daily tasks will include various laboratory analyses, the preparation of chemical mixtures, and the monitoring of our chemical processes in the plant
Around the training program
- Collaboration: You will work in a well-coordinated team, providing mutual support and assistance.
- Laboratory Analyses and Spectroscopy: You will learn how to analyze heavy metals in wastewater and acids, measure mercury, and examine zinc and lead concentrations. You will also be introduced to modern analytical techniques, such as emission and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy.
- Manufacturing and Synthesis: You will prepare various chemical mixtures and solutions for production and be involved in planning and developing new synthesis processes.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct quality control across all areas of chemical analysis and production to ensure high standards.
- Documentation and Evaluation: You will carry out measurements largely independently, document experimental procedures, and analyze the results.
- Substance and Product Testing: You will test inorganic substances, our products, and sulfuric acid, while monitoring and controlling the chemical processes within our facility.
The training to become a chemical laboratory technician (m/f/d) lasts 3.5 years. If you perform exceptionally well, you may be able to shorten the training period to three years. You will receive training both in our own laboratory and at the vocational school location in Oldenburg. Here, you will learn everything you need for your work with us, including theoretical knowledge and practical skills.
We expect you to have a good secondary school diploma (Realschulabschluss) or higher education qualification (Abitur/Fachabitur). Additionally, you should have a strong interest in and good grades in chemistry, mathematics, and physics.
